There will be no available credits for people anymore
Banker's public address at yesterday's meeting as a part of Ukrainian banking forum of Adam Smith's institute was more than convincing evidence that there would be no available credtis for people anymore.
During last few days representatives of a whole number of the biggest banks declared about sudden limitation or even stoppage of car and mortgage credits. At Brokbusinessbank it was told that their work hasn't changed at all, because they haven't granted too many long-term retail credits.
As Dmytro Zinkov, a head of OTP Bank board of management, said his credit institution abruptly limited car crediting and now want borrowers to pay not less than 50% of car's coast on their own. As an exception to the rule there are only few banks.
Bankers say that lack of spare cash at the market is the main reason of denial of car and mortgage credits. Beside that they tend to fulfil NBU's requirement on narrowing the spread of short liabilities, attracted for 1-2 years at external markets, and assets put for 20-30 years to the mortgage and for 5-7 years on car credits. In order not to lose profit from retail clients, banks tend to concentrate upon cash payment for a period to a year.
At the same time bankers are rather afraid of that NBU can deprive them of the only gaining from natural persons. "They say NBU is planning some kind of limitations, that will not give chance to deal with cash-credits and credit cards", - says one of the heads of small bank directory. Anatoliy Shapoval, senior deputy of NBU head, confirmed that such decree can be adopted even next week.
